What an incredible summer it was this year at School of Beatbox!
From delivering workshops all around the UK to collaborating on some truly unique projects, we've been keeping the beat strong.
Here's a roundup of some cool happenings we've been a part of:
DISCOVERY EVENT, Scunthorpe
We hosted free beatbox workshops at the Discover Day in Scunthorpe Central Library, where kids eager to learn the art of beatboxing joined our sessions. The library was filled with rhythmic sounds and enthusiastic energy. The event wasn't just about beatboxing; youngsters also signed up for the 2024 Reading Challenge—Marvellous Makers, aimed at igniting creativity in every child. With live storytelling, author discussions, a teen zone, and even a special challenge for older children, the day was a celebration of learning and creativity.
ISLANDS OF IMAGINATION, Portland
In an exciting collaboration, Danny teamed up with local costume designer Sophie Fretwell and poet Sarah Acton on the "Islands of Imagination" project in the Isle of Portland. This unique endeavor blended the rhythm and expression of beatboxing with the delicate art of Haiku poetry, exploring Portland's rich folklore and distinctive character. Together with students from Atlantic Academy, we delved into what makes Portland wonderfully 'weird' through a fusion of ancient literary forms and modern musical rhythms.
KALEIDOSCOPE FESTIVAL, London
Danny brought the beats to the lively family area of the Kaleidoscope Festival at Alexandra Palace Park. He delivered two energetic workshops where both kids and parents got hands-on, learning heavy bass sounds and carnival rhythms. The atmosphere was electric and certainly festive. A special highlight was Danny's little girl seeing her dad perform for the first time, making it a memorable day for the Ladwa family and all participants involved. Smiles were indeed all around!
ITV's CHRIS McCLAUSLAND SHOW
We were thrilled to see Danny appear as a special guest on ITV's The Chris McCausland Show, alongside comedians Kerry Godliman and Josh Jones. The show featured Danny showcasing his beatboxing talents, bringing the art form to a wider audience. It was an incredible opportunity to highlight the versatility and appeal of beatboxing on national television.
TEAM BUILDING WITH TOP MANAGEMENT COMPANY
For the third consecutive year, we had the privilege of sending five UK championship beatboxers to deliver a team-building session for one of the world's top three management consultancies. The session was a resounding success, fostering teamwork and creativity through the power of beatboxing. It's always rewarding to see professionals stepping out of their comfort zones and finding common ground in rhythm and music.
A DAY OF POETRY & BEATBOXING AT THE FOUNDLING MUSEUM
We had an amazing day at the Foundling Museum in Brunswick Square! The museum was buzzing with energy as Year 6 students from across the country gathered for a fantastic poetry competition. Danny was honored to be on the judging panel and kicked off the day by helping the young poets shake off their nerves with a beatbox workshop. The kids and adults jumped right in, experimenting with beats and rhythms—the excitement was infectious! It was the perfect icebreaker, setting a positive vibe for the rest of the event.
A 10-WEEK BEATBOX JOURNEY AT SOUTHCHURCH HIGH SCHOOL
At Southchurch High School, we embarked on a transformative 10-week beatboxing program aimed at re-engaging students and sparking their creativity. Throughout the sessions, students not only learned the fundamentals of beatboxing but also built confidence, teamwork, and communication skills. The wonderfully unexpected turn of events came when some of the most reserved students took centre stage during the final performance.
TEAM BUILDING | IMPLEMENT CONSULTING GROUP, Sweden
Danny delivered a dynamic beatbox team-building session for Implement Consulting Group in Sweden. The event was part of a spectacular three-day festival organised exclusively for their 1,500-strong team at the stunning Tjolöholm Castle. We were amazed not only by the breathtaking location but also by the company's commitment to the well-being and joy of their team.
TEAM BUILDING | COMPUTACENTER, Germany, Paris, UK, Hungary
Teaching beatboxing to groups always changes their perspective of the art form, and this was certainly the case with Computacenter teams across Cologne, St Albans, Paris, and Budapest. Over four sessions, we moved beyond the basic "bum bum cha" and delved into the depths of beatboxing. The workshops were filled with belly laughs and culminated in finales that required real team cohesion, making them truly memorable experiences. It's amazing to witness how beatboxing can bring teams together, fostering communication and collaboration in a fun and engaging way.
