Try This Beatbox Beat!
Can You Do All 10 Steps?

Teaching beatbox rhythms and techniques is our passion. We love to break things down in a way that helps people progress and get better at beatboxing. Two things we tell our students when they are learning a new rhythm that they are finding a bit more tricky to learn are a) slow the rhythm down and b) break the rhythm down and learn it in sections.

By slowing the beat down we mean literally slowing down the speed that you beatbox the beat until you can do it comfortably. It's not always easy to jump straight into a new rhythm so slowing it down can help you understand the timing and get used to it. Once you've mastered the  rhythm at a slower speed, you can gradually speed it up. It's a simple rule when learning to beatbox and it works!

By learning the rhythm in sections we mean breaking up the whole rhythm into smaller sections and learning it bit by bit. Once you've learned each section, you can put them together to eventually beatbox the whole rhythm. This is another simple way to learn to beatbox and it really works!

Try This Rhythm, It Has 10 Steps (How Far Can You Go?)

With that in mind, take a look at this beat here, which has 10 clear steps to it. As you progress step by step there will be more sounds added and it will get more and more complex. This is a perfect way to learn beatboxing because you can go through each step, seeing how far you can go. As soon as you have any difficulty with a particular step, you know exactly what you need to work on. This is a good way to not feel overwhelmed and practice taking things slowly, learning at your own pace. If you continue to practice this beat step by step you will eventually learn how to do the whole beat as it is in step 10!
