What Is Core?

Weekly Training

A regular online class where your child can practise, learn new rhythms and build confidence over time.

Confidence & Creativity

Space for children to express themselves, try ideas and feel more comfortable using their voice.

Progression Pathway

Core sits at the heart of our progression pathway, helping students move towards Skills Lab when they’re ready.

Extra Practice Included

Core membership includes access to our regular online kids classes to revisit basics and build confidence.

No Need To Be Advanced

Some children join with experience, others are still learning the basics. Core is about consistency, not perfection.

Small Enough To Be Seen

Core groups are kept small enough for tutors to notice each child’s progress and help them keep moving forward.

Who Is Core For?

Core is for children who have tried beatboxing and want a more regular place to keep developing.

Some children join because they already love beatboxing. Some are still learning the basics. Some are shy at first. Some are full of ideas and need somewhere creative to put them.

Core gives them a regular place to practise, build confidence and grow at their own pace.

Core is about consistency, not perfection.

Core could be a good fit if your child:

Practises beatboxing at home
Watches beatbox videos and wants proper guidance
Wants more structure than occasional online classes
Is creative but needs help building confidence
Would benefit from a regular creative routine
Needs time to feel comfortable before sharing
Wants to work towards Skills Lab in the future

Still have questions about CORE?

What happens during a typical Core session?

Each live 60-minute Core session combines structured learning with games, creativity and plenty of opportunities to beatbox together.

Each month has an associated theme and the programme is built for children to really progress with their skills in the art of beatboxing.

Children can contribute at their own level, while the consistent group helps them build skills, confidence and friendships over time.

Is Core suitable for beginners, shy children or neurodivergent children?

Children don’t need advanced beatboxing skills to join Core. It is designed for 5–12-year-olds who are ready to learn regularly in a friendly, supportive group.

Children are encouraged to participate in different ways and won’t be pressured to perform on their own before they feel ready. This can make Core a welcoming space for beginners, quieter children and neurodivergent children.

Every child is different, however, and an online group may not suit everyone. If your child has particular support needs or you’re unsure whether Core will be right for them, please contact us before enrolling.

How many children will be in the group?

Core groups are limited to a maximum of 20 children.

This allows us to create the energy and excitement of learning together while still giving children opportunities to contribute, ask questions and receive guidance.

Children learn with the same regular group, helping them become comfortable with one another and develop a genuine sense of community.

What does Core membership include?

Core membership includes live 60-minute Core sessions during scheduled programme weeks, with at least 40 live Core sessions provided across a full membership year.

Members also receive:

* Creative beatbox missions during selected holiday periods
* Access to School of Beatbox’s regular online kids classes at no additional cost
* Monthly themes covering sounds, rhythm, technique, creativity and performance
* Opportunities to create beats and routines alongside a consistent group

Yearly membership saves £78 compared with paying monthly and also includes a private 30-minute online 1-to-1 beatbox lesson worth £35.

What happens if my child misses a session?

Don’t worry - your child can simply return for the next Core session. We’ll help them rejoin the group without making them feel as though they have fallen behind.

Because Core is a live group membership and your child’s place is reserved for them, missed sessions cannot normally be refunded, transferred or rearranged as individual lessons.

If your child needs to miss several sessions because of illness or another ongoing situation, please contact us so we can discuss the best way to support them and your family.

What if my child tries Core and doesn’t enjoy it?

The monthly option offers the most flexibility. You can cancel before the next monthly payment is taken, and there will be no further charges.

Yearly members are protected by our 30-day Core promise. If you let us know within 30 calendar days of the membership start date that Core isn’t right for your child, we’ll cancel the membership and refund the remaining 11 months.

For a £390 yearly membership, this means we retain £32.50 for the first month and refund £357.50. After the initial 30-day period, yearly membership payments are not normally refundable. This promise is in addition to your statutory consumer rights.

How does the sibling discount work?

After enrolling one child at the standard membership price, each additional sibling can join Core with a 50% discount.

Sibling membership costs:

* £19.50 per month
* £195 per year

Each child needs their own membership, but the same parent or carer can manage all the memberships using one email address.

Enrol your first child and select the sibling-discount option during signup. We’ll then send you the correct link for enrolling any additional children.

Please note that yearly sibling memberships do not include an additional bonus 1-to-1 lesson.

How does the yearly bonus 1-to-1 lesson work?

Every standard yearly Core membership includes one private 30-minute online beatbox lesson worth £35.

The session is shaped around your child and what would help them most - whether that’s strengthening particular sounds, improving their rhythm, developing a routine or exploring something they’ve enjoyed during Core.

You’ll receive a private booking link, with appointments available after the first 30 days of membership. The bonus lesson must be booked and used during the applicable yearly membership period.

One bonus lesson is included with each standard yearly membership. Discounted yearly sibling memberships do not include an additional lesson.

What happens during school holidays?

The Core calendar broadly follows UK school holiday periods, with planned breaks from live sessions at certain points during the year.

There is no single school calendar across the UK. Holiday dates can differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as between local authorities and individual schools. This means a Core break may not always match your child’s school holidays exactly, and occasionally Core may run while your child’s school is closed.

We’ll provide the Core calendar in advance. Across a full membership year, members receive at least 40 live Core sessions, with creative beatbox missions provided during selected holiday breaks.

Can we change between monthly and yearly membership?

Yes. Please contact us before your next payment and we’ll arrange the change for you.

If you change from monthly to yearly membership, the yearly plan will normally begin when your current paid month ends. This prevents overlapping payments and starts a new 12-month membership period.

If you change from yearly to monthly membership, the monthly plan will normally begin when the existing yearly period finishes. Yearly memberships cannot usually be changed or partially refunded during the membership year after the initial 30-day Core promise has ended.

If you switch from monthly to yearly after your child has already been attending Core, the 30-day introductory promise does not restart, as they have already had the opportunity to experience the programme.

What equipment does my child need?

No specialist beatboxing equipment or separate microphone is required.

Your child will need:

* A laptop, desktop computer or tablet with a camera, microphone and speakers
* A reliable internet connection
* The Zoom app
* A comfortable space where they can make some noise
* A drink of water

A phone can be used, but a device with a larger screen will make it easier to see the activities and other group members. Headphones are optional but can often help with sound issues. Use whichever setup gives your child the clearest sound.

For younger children, we recommend having an adult nearby at the beginning of the session in case they need help joining Zoom or adjusting their sound settings.

Zoom Audio Setting that must be changed on the device your child uses:

Turn on 'Original Sound for Musicians' or Turn off 'Background Noise Suppression'.

If this setting is not changed - we won't hear your child when they beatbox.

What if the current Core time doesn’t work for us?

If the current Core time isn’t suitable, you can submit the days and times that would work better for your family using our future-group preference form.

We’ll use these responses to help decide when to open additional Core groups and will contact you when a potentially suitable group becomes available.

Submitting your preferences does not commit you to joining or guarantee that a particular group will open, but it ensures your family’s availability is considered when we plan future times.

Your child can continue attending our regular online kids classes while waiting for a suitable Core group.
